Recently, I tried to dual boot Ubuntu alongside windows 10. I didn't have free space on my windows partition, i.e, C:, so, made a partition in the D: drive and installed Ubuntu on it. I ran into several problems, like after turning on my laptop, my screen continuously showed No Boot device found. Hence, I tried to go into boot order settings by pressing F9 and my system was able to boot into Ubuntu by B ...

I recently opened Libre Write (LibreOffice), and noticed that the entire top bar is just a set of icons. I can get to a more contextual menu by right clicking the top bar, but "file", "tools", "settings" are all missing, doesn't seem to be a way to change the top bar to not be icons.
How would I go about changing this to contain a context menu?
I've tried the following.
- I have a dual boot, and booting into Windows partition works fine - this rules out RAM issue.

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 Mate 32-bit. Sometimes when I add a program shortcut to the quick launch section of the top bar, it will be gone after a restart. I hope to bypass that by manually editing the respective configuration file. I am rather new to Linux and do not want to simply edit some file by my own choice. So can you tell me which is the correct file to edit?

Seeing some odd behavior after shutting down my PC running Ubuntu 18.04. I did a hard push on the power button after the computer crashed while trying to kill an intense process that became a Zombie (I think this is unrelated).

I restarted and found I am now automatically given the grub menu. If I do not select Advanced Option ...

I'd like to change, for example, the "Sorry, that didn't work" to something else. Are the texts of the gdm3 greeter available and modifiable somewhere in the system?
I am aware that this might cause problems if I need to debug my system in the future, since I can't use the defaut messages anymore. However, the default messages are so easily attainable that I don't see this as a problem.

The company I work for has about 100 Ubuntu 18.04 server machines scattered across the United State as part of one of our product lines. Ubuntu 18.04 LST, went to the emergency mode the first time. Nothing works to exit the emergency mode (I tested many from the discussions here) except the following solution.
