I am new to linux and I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on my Dell device which uses intel i3 processor with Intel hd graphics 5500.
The machine was working well for a month and then suddenly yesterday I started seeing a flicker on the screen with purple horizontal line on top and when I press a key or move my mouse it takes some time for the screen to update.
A few days ago I opened Blender and was treated to this mess. I don't know what caused it, but it seemed to have something to do with my graphics card. My system has two GPUs, an Intel HD 530 and an NVIDIA GT 730. Since the problem was occurring on the Intel card, I decided to switch and see if the problem continued. Unfortunately, it did (although it feels subjectively like it's less severe). The ...
I decided to upgrade the nvidia driver I was using, I opened additional drivers and previously it was 660(proprietary), it had a new version 670(proprietary, tested). I restarted and now I'm booting into what seems to be safe graphics mode, I'm unable to u ...

Beginner user here. I've got a server box loaded with an Intel S2600ST, an Intel Xeon Silver 4216, and an RTX 3080, and either Ubuntu 20.04.03 or 21.04. When I've had the LTS loaded, it would recognize my nVidia as a generic device, however 21.04 directly identifies it as a 3080.
I currently have this system connected with a VGA from the baseboard, which outputs fine. During the OS Boot, my main ...
Ok, I really love linux but I REALLY DETEST the fact that it is awful with GPUs.
Over the last couple of weeks I have tried fedora, kubuntu, kde neon, zorin os, and manjaro and NONE of then could utilize my nvidia graphics card.
I have literally tried everything.
I did a standard nvidia install: 'sudo apt install nvidia-xxx (I think I did 470)'
I think I also tried: 'sudo apt install nvidia-driver-xxx'
