I am trying in developer mode to get rid of chrome and install 20.4 It keeps stopping me reading the OS from the usb.
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 3, and have been running single boot KDE Neon (20.04 focal) for years. Yesterday my desktop froze. Upon reboot, I found myself with no touchpad, no function keys (with the exception of the Volume keys that continued to work), and no WLAN.
Except the Function keys, there are no other keys on my laptop that can control hardware.
According to the BIOS, WLAN as well as Function k ...
When I try to shut down Ubuntu 21.04 I have dark window. When I try to reboot I also have a dark window. The computer does not shut down, but Windows 10 shuts down normally. I tried sudo shutdown -h now
and sudo systemctl poweroff
but they didn't work.
Lenovo-IdeaPad-S145-15AST. It is new problem. I installed Ubuntu about 2 weeks ago.
When I trun on the laptop the touchpad will be laggy and the whole system will freeze afte a while.
If I suspend the laptop everything backs to normal.
Also there is no problem if I restart it instead of turning on.
Or turn on it in AC.

Ubuntu 21.10 on Lenovo IdeaPad3 is mostly a fantastic experience. The only problem is that the battery drains 30% or more overnight when the laptop is in Suspend mode.
I have seen discussions that recommend change the Sleep mode to Hibernate, but also many warnings against doing this.
a) Has anyone tried to enable Sleep to Hibernate on Lenovo IdeaPad3? If so, what method? b) If Sleep to Hibernate is ...

I recently bought an IdeaPad 1 82GV. It has an AMD3020E @1.2 GhZ, 4GB RAM, 64 GB EMMC drive and runs Windows 11 in S mode. I bought the device as a platform for Linux experiments, on a whim, with zero research, as it was on Sale. I had a look at KUBUNTU,XUBUNTU AND LUBUNTU on Live USB...after a little BIOS jiggery pokery. I decided to wipe Windows and install Kubuntu 20.04.3 LTS as it has a flashy KDE ...
I have a new laptop IdeaPad 3 (15ARH05) and Ubuntu 21.04, and I want to preserve the battery in good condition by preventing non stop charging. I've searched the other questions and I couldn't find a solution.
My intention is to find a solution and also, to make this solution available for beginners (newcomers from windows), so I would need step by step guidance, with feedback from Terminal.

I think this is a known issue since I see it on different laptops, but still does not google easily.
In IntelliJ IDEA, when I unplug mouse and use my (synaptics?) Lenovo touchpad under Linux, it won't scroll. Period. It won't vertical scroll in the source window, which is a killer.
Is there a way to make IDEA scroll under Linux/X11 when using touchpad, specifically the Lenovo kind? I currently use 2 ...

This question is similar to quite a few others here, and I've tried a few things without luck. A brand new Lenovo Ideapad works like a charm with Ubuntu 20.04 (later updated to 21.04), except that the screen brightness cannot be adjusted in any way. Not by the slider control found top/right on the screen, not the Fn+F5/F6 buttons (only the graphic indicating brightness change is showing), nothing.
I have just purchased a new IdeaPad 5 14ALC05 w/o OS and installed Ubuntu 21.04. So far so good.
The problem is that suspend appears not to work. No matter wether the power cord is connected or not, when I close the lid and wait for ca. 20 s or when I use the desktop menu / Power Off / Suspend function, the screen turns black and the power LED starts slowly pulsing, so I take it the system is sus ...
