Is there a way to increase the delay (the time the left mouse button must be pressed before starting drag&drop) distinguishing between a click and drag&drop? I often click on something, but Ubuntu 20.04 starts drag&drop.
The only way to make the usb mouse work again is to unplug the usb cable and plug it again, is there any solution to this?

I'm trying to play ARK on Linux on my triple monitor setup (game window only on center monitor). I'm running XUbuntu 21.04 with a 3060ti. The center monitor is set as my primary monitor. Whenever I open my in game inventory or the game menu my mouse immediately jumps to the center of my right monitor. I then have to drag it back into the ARK game window.

I read several past entries about "focus follows mouse" in these pages, but I could not find an answer that helped me. Many answers are for older versions, and others are for Ubuntu flavors other than Mate. These previous answers list tools and programs to do this which I could not find in Ubuntu-Mate menus.
In had expected to be able to do this using Mate Tweak, but it does not even mention mo ...

Sometimes when I boot into my Ubuntu system (dual boot) the pointer doesn't move when I move the mouse. The lights on the mouse work so it is enabled. When I reboot Ubuntu it most of the times works again. So it is completely random when it will work or not. I have a Logitech G Pro mouse that connects wireless to a USB dongle. Any idea what could cause this? On my Windows system I never have this proble ...
I've been using an external USB keyboard and mouse on a Lenovo E480 laptop for more than two years with ubuntu 19 and then 20 without any issue, a few days ago, suddenly both keyboards and mouse start behaving strangely.

So I've bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 and installed Ubuntu 21.04 on it. While a Mouse works just fine, the Touchpad does not. I've tried numerous methods I've found on YouTube and different forums. I edited a lot of things in grub and updated it, rebooted the laptop and also tried the kernel method but unfortunately nothing works. I don't know if I should reinstall Ubuntu, try an older version or try ...
I am using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
If there's any roughness on the desk surface, sometimes even if the mouse is moved suddenly, it defocusses my active screen and shows all other open windows - just like hitting the Super (Windows) key.
It's tediously annoying as it so often happens at a point where I have an idea and want to try something -- not the time for interruption !
Can anyone suggest a means of disa ...
How to replicate:
- Open a select element on a website
- Try to take a screenshot using Ctrl + Shift + PrtSc
- Try to use your mouse to do anything else except for the browser window
You cannot switch applications using your mouse. You cannot do anything with your mouse except in that browser process.
I am 90% certain that this is the same case with all browsers.
The only fix I found was rebooting th ...
I bought a simple joystick, with just a 360° steering stick and a button on it, to control my PC while watching movies. First connect worked like a charm out of the box, but after shut down and start up of the computer at the next day, my ubuntu suddenly wants that I type some Numbers and hit enter on my mouse-only joystick, to connect it.
There pops up a UI Dialog with the follwing:

I'm taking a look at this laptop for a friend. She installed Ubuntu 21.04 over the Windows installation and everything seems to be working with one exception. The mouse, whether touchpad or external, doesn't move the pointer. It stays stuck in the lower left corner.
I've tried installing xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, I can't find anything in the BIOS that seems to apply to the touchpad. I'm prett ...
I am new to linux and I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on my Dell device which uses intel i3 processor with Intel hd graphics 5500.
The machine was working well for a month and then suddenly yesterday I started seeing a flicker on the screen with purple horizontal line on top and when I press a key or move my mouse it takes some time for the screen to update.
I have suddenly (in the past couple of days) begun experiencing hard lockups on my laptop. When this happens, neither the mouse, keyboard, or display respond. This seems to always happen when I am typing - the keystrokes I type don't appear on the screen until I move the mouse, then it rapidly catches up. Every dozen or so times this happens, the mouse won't move and the characters won't appear and I ha ...

When I scroll vertically, it scrolls horizontally in parallel. It is impossible to slide two fingers down in the table, so that there is no horizontal scrolling. This was not the case before. I want to make sure that when I scroll down in the table, the screen does not move a little to the right / left. That is, I want both horizontal and vertical scrolling to be available, but when calling one, the sec ...

I am using a Logitech MX Vertical Advance mouse and a Logitech wireless keyboard, each using it's own receiver (dongle). Both receivers are plugged in to a USB switch which is connected to my laptops: 1 Ubuntu (18.04.5 LTS) and 1 Windows (Win10). Everything was working perfectly on both laptops (absolutely no problems here).
Yesterday, using the Logitech Unifying Software (Win10 machine), I paired bo ...
I have Razer Deathadder Elite gaming mouse. I wanted to remap its two side buttons so that I would be able to switch between workspaces. I have seen this: Remapping mouse buttons to keyboard keys, but could not figure out how to map the buttons to key combinations (i.e. Ctrl+Alt+Up and Ctrl+Alt+Down).

This question was asked for an older version at: Make cursor visible after startup without moving the mouse
However the answer doesn't work and I can't add a comment there because of being new here.
I use Unified Remote instead of a mouse so the cursor being hidden on startup leaves the computer unusable unless I plug a mouse in and move it.
I am currently trying to make my Magic Mouse 2 work on my system (Kubuntu 20.04). The mouse is detected under the bluetooth section, but only moving and clicking works, there is no support for scrolling or any other touch-related gestures. Also, another issue I had is that on restart it doesn't automatically turn on every single time, but that's a lesser issue.
Getting a very strange mouse and keyboard lag/choppiness/stuttering after using my computer for a while on 21.04, typically with a lot of browser tabs and Discord/Telegram open, but this shouldn't be an issue. My CPU, memory, and disk load is still low. New computer (Gigabyte B450M DS3H mobo, Ryzen 3400g, 32gb ram). I have a wireless keyboard and mouse but those aren't the issue either because the same ...
I have an old reliable workstation that was 16.04 until a couple weeks ago. I upgraded to 18.04 and then after a few days to 20.04. On both 18 and 20, video in Firefox is horrible, like 1.5 frames per sec, and the mouse is very laggy, move it across the screen and it will disappear and reappear. None of this happened w/ 16.04. Also, none of this occurs in other apps. I thought I had clobbered the m ...
I have an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec0xxx with Ubuntu 20.04, and its ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad is not working
The touchpad shows up in xinput list, and so does my USB optical mouse, the ID of my mouse (9) is lower than that of the touchpad (12). I think this means that my mouse is registered before the touchpad.
Touchpad also shows up in /cat/proc/input/devices.

For a long time the mouse stop working as well as when Ubuntu was initially installed with 18.04. I've upgraded and I'm in 21.04 now.
