I recently bought a Thinkpad carbon X1 gen9 with Ubuntu preinstalled. The preinstalled Ubuntu have some problems (see this forum) and I was thinking of trying Debian.
As soon as I try to boot from the USB stick that has an image of Debian I am "thrown" into grub and I am unable to do anything else (I guess lack of knowledge).
Now, I thought that I try another distro, and tried to boot up Kubuntu. The ...
I'm still getting used to Ubuntu (20.04) on my Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 after being a Mac user for 10 years.
When setting up, I found the resolution made things far too tiny and I'm sure I changed a few things, including the scale slider (first) and then I dropped my resolution (from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080). The resolution change made everything look ok, except Telegram, which I think is still b ...
I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon 2021, with OS Ubuntu 20.04. During the working time it works fine and without problems.
After I power off, the screen goes dark and the fans keep working at high speed.
After 2 minutes the laptop keeps getting hot until the point you can not even barely touch it.
If I press and hold the power off button, then the laptop powers off correctly and the fun stops.

I've got a brand new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen. 9 with no pre-installed OS. After checking that Secure Boot is Off and OS Optimized Defaults are Disabled, I installed Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS. If I try to shutdown the device, it shows a black screen but does not turn off. The only indicator is that the fans keep spinning. Even the power LED is Off. I waited up to one hour and did a force-shutdown several times b ...

I just bought brand new Lenovo ThinkPad T15 Gen 2 20W4000GRT and trying to run fresh downloaded Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on it. Everything looks great besides absence of WiFi (Bluetooth has been detected though).
I have read all the amount of suggestions regarding this issue other people had, but all of them mostly boil down to update kernel to 5.10+ version. My uname -r

Thinkpad L13 Yoga G2 running Ubuntu 20.04 when flipped like this:
screen keyboard sometimes stops working properly: "Space", "Delete" keys are not functioning. If I return to normal notebook orientation it starts working again. What's wrong? Maybe there is an option to replace keyboard software? I tried "Onboard" but it doesn't have other languages and appear together with built-in keyboard.
For the last 5 shut downs, my laptop has been going to black screen as if shut down (no keyboard light or anything), but the fans continue to run. Pushing on the power off button does not do anything and I am basically forced to wait for the laptop to run out of battery. There does not seem to be any specific error message popping.

I'm currently on Ubuntu 21.04, the touchpad does not work at all. The red pointer works for moving the mouse and the buttons above the touchpad works, but the actual touchpad does not.
I've tried installing xserver-xorg-input-synaptics but that did not resolve the issue. I'm unable to find anyone with a similar issue or any linux touchpad drivers online.
Please help!
Running Ubuntu 21.04 on ThinkPad X1 Carbon 9th generation. When I suspend the computer, Slack closes down. Happens every time. Notified Slack, but wondering if anyone else here has encountered this.
UPDATE: See below. Going back to 20.04.3 fixed the issue, and Slack is working on it.
I've upgraded a thinkpad W520 to 20.04.2 LTS and for some reason although automatic suspend is switched off under "Suspend & Power Button" yet after several minutes it gets suspended.
This behavior was not there on previous version, this is dconf dump grep output if it can help:

It seems to work without a hitch up until I log in and the desktop is shown. It also had no problems using the touchscreen when I was just testing the laptop with a bootable USB device. I own the new Thinkpad P14s AMD 2nd gen with Ubuntu 21.04 and full disk encryption. It almost works out of the box except for Wi-Fi (that can be fixed with this driver) and suspension.
Actually, I'm not totally sure where the problem is: if I try to suspend, all keyboard lights switch off, except for the power button that stays on. When I try to resume from suspension, keyboard lights switch on but the ...
I have a lenovo t430 thinkpad with Ubuntu 20.04 installed back in April 2021 and re-installed recently (July 10, 2021). No other OS is installed on the SSD.
