I have installed STS (Spring Tool Suite) IDE on Ubuntu 20.04 and I am finding the following problem with the icon in the launcher.
The problem is that executing this application, it correctly start but the icon is fixed as last element in my launcher left vertical bar:

Alright so I want to make a VRChat avatar for my Quest 2 however the VRChat SDK requires a specific version of Unity, and that is: 2018.4.20f1
Sadly, you can only get up to 2018.4.36f1 in the Unity Hub for Ubuntu.
Is there any installer for 2018.4.20f1

I was using Unity and one day, while I was using my laptop and clicked on the Ubuntu logo, the entire sidebar disappeared. I tried to restart, but the top bar had disappeared too.
So I did a hard reset and my laptop booted but glitched. After that, it didn't boot back. I put the hard drive in another PC and it was fine.
Can anyone help with what's going on?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and I am using a lot the navigation shortcuts to switch workspace on Unity (Ctrl+Alt+Arrows for me).
Since a recent update, it seems that the priorities of the shortcuts have been changed: while the workspace shortcuts used to have the highest priorities, it is not the case any more and now it usually activates a shortcut of the program I am currently using, which is very an ...

When I recover from suspend, it doens't show lock screen. Also, windows+L (I configured the shortcuts quite a bit, but whatever shortcut for locking the screen) doens't work any more.
Please don't ask why I use
gnome, or comment like
gnome is better so use
gnome. I need my desktop to be locked when I suspend it.

I have a window I move from one monitor to another in steps. The Compiz "Place Window" plug-in intercepts the movements and initially stops it from moving to the next monitor. Then it jumps to the next monitor and freezes. Then it continues the last few steps.
To override the "place window" plugin python issues some CLI commands. Note:

Until this morning, in Unity, I had been happily using Ctrl + Super + RightArrow (or LeftArrow) to place a window neatly on one half of my screen or the other. I'd also sometimes use the mouse to drag a window right or left, until the pointer touched the edge of the screen, and that would have the same effect.
This morning, both techniques stopped working, and the associated shortcuts disappeared ...
If there's one thing that keeps on bugging me with GNOME on Ubuntu Desktop (21.04 at the moment, this was already in a few previous versions as well) is the lack of getting properties of an icon (and possibly remove it, modify it, etc) with a right-click menu option.
Example: every so often one ends up with this example situation where you have a "ghost" of another install, which in some cases ha ...
I am running Ubuntu 20.04 with Unity desktop environment.
I would like to split my (big) second screen into 4 different virtual screens, into a grid of virtual screens. I do not know how to do this. Unity tweak tool is already installed, but that did not offer this option.
