I have two identical HP monitors that both can handle 1920x1080 resolution connected to a basic HP SlimDesktop model 290-p0043w with a basic Intel® UHD Graphics 610 GPU. However, the video output is one HDMI and one VGA port. I had Ubuntu 18.04 installed on the same computer before and after some tweaking I got the VGA port to work on 1920x1080 stable and reliable. Now I installed Ubuntu 21.04 on the s ...

Trying to add external display using USB 3 to VGA Fresco Logic 2000 chipset adaptor by compiling a driver and loading a module in the kernel 5.4.0-84-generic in Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS.
Problem I am facing.
As soon as I load the modules, the screen flickers, and lsmod
shows used_by 1
but there's no display on the target device and the used by

I have a laptop with 20.04 desktop loaded that I normally leave running 24x7 with the lid closed, it has a smashed display that is almost illegible... In the past, back with version 12 or 16 [edit: 12.04 and 16.04 LTS, both desktop], when I flipped open the lid, and connected a vga monitor to it, the display would pop up there; so if i needed the gui I would just temporarily plug it in and that worked f ...

Older 32-bit laptop running 18.04.
When I plug in an external VGA monitor it slows down abysmally, as in 20+seconds between keystrokes. If I unplug the monitor it works fine again.
External shows the background fine and cursor is normal speed. Everything else is dead slow. Tried several monitors same result.
How can I fix this?

I'm using lubuntu 18.04 and I keep it up to date to avoid problems.

I tried several parameters and settings of the radeon driver to avoid this corruption without any luck. One of the effects is that if I over the pointer onto t ...
I am trying to play some sightly old games with WINE and I run into the following problem. The games go into full screen mode at 640x480. My monitor has two possible refresh rates for this resolution, 60Hz and 75Hz. The problem is that 75Hz is always selected as the preferred mode but the games are designed to run at 60Hz vsynced, so they either run faster than they should or run jerky (depending on the ...
I have one monitor with 1366x768 resolution and two CPUs(one Windows System and one Ubuntu System). I am using VGA splitter to render two CPUs. But I am facing few problems :
Every time I switch display from splitter , my resolution resets to 1024 x 768. Then manually I have to set it to 1366 x 768 using xrandr.
$ xrandr --newmode "Mode 0" 85.50 1366 1436 1579 1792 768 771 774 798 +hsync +vsync
I currently have my system setup with Ubuntu 20.04. I have one HDMI port, where I am able to successfully add an additional monitor. I would like to add two more additional monitors (three total). Does any one have a hardware recommendation for either a HDMI to USB adapter or a VGA to USB adapter that works well with Ubuntu?
Thanks
I use a HP laptop with an old VGA monitor connected via HDMI-VGA dongle. Currently on 21.04 fresh install.
Under Settings > Display I can only see option for Built-in display. There is no option to even detect for any additional displays.
