I faced a problem after a couple of days that my malfunctioned touchscreen was on unexpectedly, despite setting MatchIsTouchscreen "off"
at /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf
How to make it disabled just like Ubuntu 20 and the older versions?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T450s with a trackpoint and a touchpad. Before upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 I could disable the trackpoint on the terminal with the command
xinput set-prop "TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint" "Device Enabled" 0
After the upgrade this does not work anymore and I get a message
WARNING: running xinput against an Xwayland server. See the xinput man page for details. unable to find device TPPS/2 ...

Ever since the 21.04 switch to Wayland, mpv has been saying:
[vo/gpu/wayland] GNOME's wayland compositor is known to have many serious issues with mpv. Switch to GNOME's xorg session for the best experience.
and yet has been working flawlessly (including with mp4 files). Until now. This new problem only seems to occur with mp4:

I basically want to ask this question, but for GNOME on Wayland. This means that answers involving AutoKey and xbindkeys wont work, as neither works under Wayland.
Background:
I would like to remap some keys to ultimately make better use of CapsLock
.
My plan is to map CapsLock
to AltGr
, and then follow this to obtain vim-like keybindings. On Wayland, this remapping can be done through XKB files (see the l ...
I've got a Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 15IIL05 with Intel UHD graphics, running Ubuntu 20.04.1. I want to connect it to an external monitor (Acer Gaming Nitro VG270U) via HDMI.
When connected, it does work - however, the highest possible resolution the system suggests is 1920x1080, when the screen itself supports 2560 x 1440. It is definitely not a problem with a cable or the monitor itself - when connecte ...
I am having an issue with plymouth animation not showing at shutdown. On Wayland Plymouth animation works but on xorg I can't see plymouth animation at shutdown.
Gpick (0.2.6) is not working anymore on my computer (Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS). When I click on "Pick color", I do not see the display around my mouse in the small box where it should be magnified. This box stays gray. When I pick a color (by pressing the space bar) it is always black (#000000).
I have downloaded Pick (2.0.2) but it does not work either.
I have also noticed here that Gpick should be able to ...
Whenever I copy content with the Ubuntu file explorer Nautilus, like a filename string, and try to paste the filename into other applications, like chrome, it will cause the target application to freeze until I copy something somewhere else.
I'm running wayland on Ubuntu 20.04, and this only happens in Nautilus.
Is there any way to fix this?
My OS:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 21.04
Release: 21.04
Codename: hirsute
Note that I do not use the Wayland
display server protocol that's used by default by Ubuntu 21.04. Since this is apparently buggy in the current version I had to switch back Xorg
. How that's done is described here.
In Ubuntu's navigation on the left every new instance of a program is indicated ...
Having a monitor that supports 100% of Adobe RGB color space. Used it for a while with Xorg and NVIDIA GPU after I found out that effective color gamut used was sRGB.
I have noticed that with disabled hardware acceleration, colors on Xorg are just fine - Adobe RGB is being covered. I've also tried using Wayland, and since NVIDIA GPU doesn't support running Wayland, I have tried installing an AMD ...

Moving my finger 3 cm over the touchpad moves the cursor across approximately half the screen, regardless how quickly/slowly I do it.
That means I either can't easily hit a click target (current settings) or can't quickly move across the screen. Normally, I'm used to touchpads moving "faster" on fast movements (i.e. moving your finger quickly by 3 cm moves the cursor across the entire screen, mov ...
I am using the default Wayland with 21.04, I have an SD card permanently inserted in the laptop, if I open an app the icon will not show in the dock for a few seconds, if I move icons within the dock (change positions) the movement will be reflected in the dock a few seconds later, etc. If I switch to X11 at login everything will work smoothly, any idea if I can fix it in Wayland? Thanks

I have Debian PC running xrdp
service.
If I try to connect to it when I am running Ubuntu desktop on Wayland via Remmina with color depth settings set on 32bit (or automatic 32 bpp, the default one) it connects to it but the image flicks and I see a lot of white lines on the screen, it's impossible to use. It works if I change color depth to Truecolor (24 bpp) or lower.
No problem if I connect to ...
So theoretically Wayland is now supported on Nvidia with the 470 and above drivers.
If this is true how can I completely transform my ubuntu 21.04 from Xorg to wayland?
(yes I am willing to completely reinstall steam and all my games, as well as any number of other apps)
After upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04, the arrow keys on my USB Japanese 108-key keyboard scroll in LibreOffice Calc as though scroll lock is toggled on (even though the scroll lock light is not on) instead of moving the selected cell. (Actually, this happens with the US-intl keyboard layout too.) The arrow keys work as expected in other programs though, including LibreOffice Writer.
If I switch to the ...
I have a docking station and 2 external monitors plugged in via DP. Whenever I lock my screen and wake it up again my display settings are reverted and I have to set the primary monitor again.

At home I have an headless PC running 21.04. From time to time I need to launch same app there, mainly personal stuff. To do that I connect via wifi with the laptop, 21.04 as well, I use to work. (I do not like to have those personal data installed there).
With Wayland remote desktop is a pain in the neck and I ended up with nothing.
I tried then to launch some app tunnelling X via ssh but most of ...
I usually rotate my touch screen like:
xinput set-prop "ILITEK ILITEK-TP" 'Coordinate Transformation Matrix' 0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1
This does not work in 21.04, maybe because of Wayland? However I have a 2-in-1 laptop with 21.04 and the touch coordinates automatically rotate when I rotate the device so there must because some command to do this.
Naturally you would think this would go into Settings bu ...

I'm running kubuntu 21.04 and decided to go with the new Kde available because it has vital feature control audio output to analog/HDMI directly in the sound applet. But it also broke X window session, anyway it runs pretty good with Wayland and decided to proceed. Only on the little issue here. Yakuake not autostarting and response only once at F12 after this it never hides but can be overlapped by oth ...
I have a clean install of 21.04 minimal using Wayland, and I installed gnome-remote-desktop
and enabled screen sharing. From my upgraded 21.04 machine I VNC into the clean install machine, but functionality is very limited.
- Application windows cannot be moved or resized - I can "select" windows to grab focus, though.
- Windows (including their menus) are non-reactive to my mouse clicks (left- and ri ...
Is it possible to add some text to the taskbar (e.g. just to the left or right of the date display), preferably just by editing a config file without having to install any extensions?
I am looking to do this because I log in using several different user names, don't want to have a different wallpaper/background for each of them, and want to be able to tell at a glance which user I am logged in as ...
I've read that Wayland is the future of display managers and works much better than X11. Can I safely use it on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS? I haven't been using any proprietary drivers (my graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 620). Taking into consideration that my system has been working perfectly under X11, will I actually see any improvements if I switch to Wayland? Thanks in advance.

When my machine (intel NUC, Ubuntu 20.10) wakes up from sleep, I say the desktop in a darkened mode (as if when hitting the start button) and I have the task bar on the left. The menus work, but I cannot launch any apps (running ones or new ones). The only solution I have is to restart the computer/Wayland and lose my session.
I guess that this is a bug. Did anyone experience that?
I am using Ubuntu 21.04, with AMD Ryzen 5 processor and RX 560X graphic card.
When I open/close any app (Brave,VSCode,Slack etc) screen flicker with a delay of 1 sec it only happens in wayland never in xorg.
It happens when I use any app which uses X-Wayland

I am currently running sway 1.4 on Ubuntu 20.4. I would like to permanently switch from us

I found some posts like this one, where people describe how to do this on other distros. But when I tried some of the solutions they did not work for me. I think this might be distro-specific.
I also read [this manpage][2] and ran

I am using Ubuntu 21.04 under GNOME on Wayland. I want to take the screenshot every minute and save them to a designated folder. The simplest thing I can think of is using crontab
which is available out-of-the-box in Ubuntu. There are only a handful of programs that can take screenshots under GNOME on Wayland - including gnome-screnshot
and flameshot
. However despite the fact these programs work from ...
When I press the application launcher, the icons flicker in their post-animation locations, and then the app menu animation starts.
The flicker is unwanted and I want to know how to get rid of it.
I've tried multiple screen recorders to give a visual demonstration, but much to my annoyance, they do not display the flicker (60fps playback)

On a 4th generation X1 Carbon laptop, which generally runs Linux and Ubuntu really well, and which has been updated every six months, I am currently having hard locking issues on the default Ubuntu Gnome UI (Edit: my bad, I presume it is no longer called Unity these days but Ubuntu's Gnome variant and theming) of Ubuntu 21.04 "Hirsute".
This is an i5 with the usual Intel graphics baked in, I can p ...
