Is the representation of the polynomial system of a symmetric cipher overdetermined?

It seems trivial to make an overdetermined system of equations from one that is not. Perhaps the real question is: _Can the conventional_ representation of the polynomial system of a symmetric cipher _be_ overdetermined? Otherwise, I don't get it.

Some examples or references could help making the question more clear. As it stands it is not clear to me what the definition of "overdetermined" is, or when this happens. Without this clarity the question is in danger of being opinionated.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
