Simplify iptables rule set
cn flag

I would like to simplify the current IPTABLES rule set for my mail server. I am using IPSET to create an extensive list of IP addresses to block then referencing that list in iptables. However, in my case there are only 5 subnets that need to communicate with the email server, so I thought it might be easier to block all access and then explicitly allow just the subnets that are needed. ScreenOS SSG-320M Source Interface Based Routing

quick question. Couldn't figure this out with even the ScreenOS Bible.

Juniper SSG-320M Firewall, Just added an 8port PIM Module(ETH1/0 to 1/7): ETH0/0(Trust) 172.16.1.1/16 ETH0/2(UnTrust) 192.168.0.5/24

Just added the 8 port PIM Ethernet card, assigned it to Trust Zone but can't figure out how to route traffic coming ETH1/0 thru ETH1/7 over to the rest of the 172.16.1.1/16 subnet.

It would be perfect  ...

Relay mail to different port on localhost in Postfix
il flag

Currently I have one Postfix server listening on port 2525 for outgoing mail and another one for incoming mail on port 25 running behind an SSH tunnel on the same machine. I'd like all mail going into the server at 2525 (mainly "mail undeliverable" messages) to be relayed to port 25, because only the server at 25 has all the mailboxes. I tried setting local_transport to smtp:127.0.0.1:25 or doing  ...

Reverse proxy to direct different users to corresponding locations

kyb

I have a server. One of its functions is SyncThing. This app has no per-user authorization, only admin. So I decided to run different Syncthing instances for each user.

For authorization process I would like to use unix user names and passwords (from /etc/passwd).

I imaging to use nginx as the reverse proxy and authorization verifier. Could you please verify my idea and help me with examples.

I have powered my R815 on/off using DRAC. That works fine.

But today I had some physical maintenance, and wanted to use the power button. I can turn on the server using the button, but I cannot turn the server off. I have held the button for 30 seconds.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
