Consolidating many VirtualHosts into one block, is this a job for SetEnvIf?
dj flag

Edit I think what I need here is SetEnvIf

I'm attempting to consolidate all of my port-80 VirtualHosts into one block for convenience, but I'm struggling with the final piece of the puzzle.

All port 80 vhosts accept a www and non-www connection to /.well-known/acme-challenge/. All other requests 301 to https://example.com/ - no www.

I think I need to turn %{HTTP_HOST} into a Defineable variable minus ...

Is it possible to remove NICs from a domain controller in DNS?

vic

I have the following situation and I'm not sure what its implications are.

On a barebone server with 4 network interfaces, I'm running one of two DCs to my domain. Now, in spite of 4 network interfaces being available on this server, I only wish that one of them has any meaning with regards to the domain. But all interfaces are connected to the network and have a valid IP address.

Login to softether VPN with GitHub Actions
ro flag

I need my CI/CD on github actions to log into VPN in order to access ssh on server and deploy stuff. VPN server itself works fine, as I tried to do the same sequence on my linux machine and it worked like a charm. But when I try to do it in automated way, it provides the password and it ends there. It doesn't even ask for standard. It happens both on github actions, as well as when I try to pass the las ...

I want to use an OpenVPN connection to access my local resources. I have iptables set to allow connection from 192.168.1.0/24 subnet. When I connect from my phone or Windows machine everything works perfectly fine. But when I try to connect from Ubuntu it does not.

MySQL log filling up with unwanted "Status information" on server reboot due to SIGHUP
dj flag

This has been plaguing me for a while, so it's time to ask.

The MySQL error_log fills up with "Status information" when the server reboots due to SIGHUP. Here is a link describing the behavior: MySQL Server response to SIGHUP signals

I understand what's going on, but don't know how to fix it.

I have one script that controls the starting/stopping of mysqld: /etc/init.d/mysql

ufw configuration for smtp connections

I have a PHP application running on a Debian server with UFW as firewall. The application needs to connect to a SMTP to send mails.

It works when I disable UFW. When it's enabled, the PHP application just keeps waiting. These are my rules:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
