DNSmasq: Assign address names to dhcp range
co flag

I'm currently assigning static host records in dnsmasq like this:

host-record=test.example.com,192.168.1.1
dhcp-host=56:54:53:52:51:03,192.168.1.1,8h

However i'd like to give my dynamically assigned ips also a host record like

host-record=dhcp-guest-1.example.com,192.168.2.1
host-record=dhcp-guest-2.example.com,192.168.2.2
host-record=dhcp-guest-3.example.com,192.168.2.3

Is there a freeradius configuration to ignore requests from users or specific sources?
in flag

I've got a little server running freeradius for a handful of systems that I don't have any control over the firewalling or configuration for. (i.e. I can't control what it sends to me, but I need to to work). That server has some other host authenticating to me with the same username thousands of times per day and there's nothing I can do about it, except complain, I need to serve out radius requests  ...

Make webserver to prevent parsing of certain HTML elements

MediaWiki content management system creates many links which their webpages I want not to be discovered by search engine crawlers.

It's not only that I don't want them indexed and more so not only that I don't want them crawled, but I don't even want them discovered !

In theory I can try to customize the skin (theme/template) of my MediaWiki website to remove the HTML elements linking to these webp ...

Routing different subnets on a switch
jp flag

My setup: I have a layer 2 managed 7-port Ethernet switch (KSZ9897). The switch features dot1Q (VLAN) and dot1X (ACL). ACL is advertised to be able to filter on layer 3 (IP) and 4 (TCP/UDP). Is it possible, with these features, to ensure that a specific IP address is only forwarded to a specific port on the switch? Say, if a packet with source IP 192.168.1.2 enters port 5, it can only be forwarded to p ...

Setting up NGINX to route from IP address and port to URL
us flag

What I am trying to do is route services to local URLS based on their port numbers. For example I have a gitlab server and Postgresql server running in docker on an Ubuntu server. They are accessible via host IP:port but I want to be able to specify, let's say gitlab-server/ for gitlab server and postgresql for the postgresql server. I installed nginx but I'm not sure how to set that up?

I know that there’s an image available ready for Jenkins, but I’m trying to build a Dockerfile to run Jenkins in a container, as I’m still learning the fundamentals of Docker and Jenkins.

I tried to build a container image with Dockerfile, but there’s still something going missing. So far, this is what I got in my Dockerfile:

I have a VPN setup using RRAS/SSTP to authenticate clients. However, some of the clients are connecting via personal computers which are not joined to the domain. Mixing server models in Hyper-V Failover Cluster
ck flag

Does anyone have experience with a heterogeneous blend of servers in a Hyper-V failover cluster? We have a cluster with blended generations of Proliants (DL360 G9s and DL360 G10s), and I'm considering introducing Dell servers into the mix due largely to availability and pricing. Is this a bad idea, and why?

Varnish 4.1 - How to serve cached copy on backend fetch failed instead of 503

I have a site served by apache+tomcat and a cache served by Varnish 4.1

When apache is down, varnish always returns a 503 error.
I would like varnish to return the copy of the pages it has in its cache but my attempts with ttl and grace have been unsuccessful.
I think I've read all the documentation on varnish 4.1 that I could find, any help is really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
