I would like to get JMX metrics from an ECS instance.

I understand that I need to provide AWS SDK with credentials to report metrics from an ECS instance. However, the documentation mentions that I need an AWS credentials file for this.

I'm looking for a good way to alternate a task within the Windows Task Scheduler.

One Saturday, run Task A. Then the next Saturday, run Task B. Then repeat.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish that within one single Task or the Windows Task Scheduler?

Cannot Create a CSR for Windows 2016 Server with Windows Server Essentials Experience Installed

I have a Windows 2016 server with the Windows Server Essentials Experience installed for Anywhere Access and everything was working fine until the SSL Cert expired and I needed to create a new CSR. All I get is “An error occurred while setting up your domain name” and that’s as far as I could get. I have uninstalled WSEE, rebooted and reinstalled with the same issue. Procmail not bouncing emails
tr flag

I have a catch-all email address for my domain, however I want to block certain addresses from receiving mail. Before, I was doing it like this:

* ^(X-Original-To): username@example.com
/dev/null

This works fine, however, the email is silently disregarded. I want a bounce mail to be sent back to the sender so that they know that it's being rejected. I used similar code to this answer:

How do you log the requests that are not getting a cache hit on varnish?
dk flag

Made a new theme on Wordpress, the new theme is very similar to the old one, meaning there shouldn't be any major SQL queries change, probably less, but the website is slow and it seems it comes from varnish.

How do I debug varnish to see which queries are not getting a cache hit? I am suspecting it's some ajax call, but there are 100 of them, so I need to know which ajax is not getting cached. H ...

HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen10 fan speed with Agentless Management Service on Ubuntu
kr flag

On my MicroServer Gen10, AMSD is able to throttle down the fan speed to 6%, barely noticable. On ML30, it is constantly up between 20-30 %, which is a problem in an office environment.

I am using Ubuntu Server with AMSD successfully working and sending information to iLO.

Has anyone succeeded in throttling down the fan speed on the ML30?

IP address not linking to apache

I'm extremely new to this, so apologies in advance for... well everything.

I have a raspberry pi and have been coding with CSS/HTML. I was attempting to use google clouds as a front-facing port, but later resorted to ngrok.

Before, putting in my domain name/IP address on my internet would show my coding from /var/www/html. My domain is now public through ndgrok, but the domain and IP address no lon ...

How can I artificially induce corrupt ext4 filesystem without data loss?
cn flag

I am trying to deal with a very rare corner case where my system has a minor corruption in the ext4 filesystem. This trigger systemd's emergency.service and I am trying to alter the behavior of it to automatically fix the fs.

Anyhow, is there any way to slightly alter the partition/filesystem to induce this state with minimal chance of dataloss? I just need fsck to return that something is wrong.

Increasing MTU size

Why would increasing the VLAN MTU size cause things to break?

We have a customer who wants 2000 byte packets for some reason, so I increased all the physical links to 9216, which didn't cause any problems, but it didn't actually allow the 2000 byte packets because you also have to increase the mtu on the vlans involved. On one of the intermediate routers (a Juniper EX4200), I increased the vlan  ...

I'm experiencing a strange mysql behaviour that occurs between two virtual machines.

When I have a query string longer than 1457 chars, the connection I'm using hangs.
I was thinking the problem was a query with a tons of result but then discovered that the query string is not important.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
