Linux load balancing for udp services
in flag

I am trying to load balance ISAKMP using linux load balancing. Google searches indicate others have used LVS to load balance udp services successfully. I cant seem to get the load balancer to rewrite the source IP/port no matter what I do.

I have tried using ldirectord as well as direct ipvsadm commands. I am trying to get this to operate in masquerade mode using source IP hash as the scheduling  ...

Iterating through nested list / dictionary using Jinja2 templates
ph flag

I'm trying to dynamically configure multiple NFS servers in my system by generating their /etc/exports files using Ansible. I'm hoping to be able to do this with a jinja2 template. It's the jinja2 template that I can't figure out based on my exports list.

I have the following variables defined in my nfs role:

Figure out what sends SIGTERM to my process
pl flag

I'm running debian docker container at google cloud run (gcc (Debian 10.2.1-6+build2) 10.2.1 20210110, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.35.2).

Something sends SIGTERM to my app and it dies. There is no obvious reason why. How can figure out what and why kills my container app?

App runs some C-based stuff and exactly the same container with exactly the same input works on local Macbook w/o problem. ...

Nginx not listening on new ports with systemctl reload nginx after adding config with a new port
vn flag

Not sure how to quickly summary this issue, so I will put my scenario in bulletpoints:

  • Normal basic nginx install
  • I only use https(443), so I removed all http(80) config
  • When you start nginx (or restart it), the process seems to listen on port 80 as well (ss -tulp)
  • When I add a config in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled with a listener on http(80) and then;

Windows File Server 2019 backup to Azure with NTFS permissions
us flag

We are running a windows server 2019 with File and storage services. We only use this as a file server with NTFS permissions. My backup program doesn't allow dynamic disks to be backed up and all of our file partitions are dynamic disks. So I need to find a solution to backup all of our data, delete the partitions, and recreate partitions using basic disk. Then copy the data back to the local server.

TcpDump shows ICMP reply but PING times out
pr flag

I'm trying to redirect network traffic for a specific user account (vpnnet) to an OpenVPN server. The tunnel is working fine when the default route is pulled, but I do not want to route all traffic through VPN, only for processes running with a given UID. So I disabled the automatic pulling of the default route and came up with the following:

iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -m owner --uid-owner vpnnet ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
