Ways to debug root partition not unmounted on reboot

I have a problem where every time I reboot a Linux system (Ubuntu-based), the root filesystem is not unmounted successfully.

Doing a fsck after a reboot results in output like:

The message displayed on reboot is:

Is there a way to interrupt the reboot and get a command prompt inside the ra ...

Local Group Policy Editor Configure Automatic Update not saving changes

I'm trying to configure Automatic Updates using WSUS. Server configuration is done and when I try configure clients, some clients do not save the changes I made in Local Group Policy Editor.

Some of the clients do not save changes I made in policy even if I login as Domain Admin. My client computers are Windows Server 2019 and 2022.

I change the setting like this:

Why do System Interrupts not appear in Task Manager for the 2nd logged in person?
us flag

I have a Windows Server 2019 VM. Typically 2 people are allowed to terminal into the server.

The first person who logs in sees System Interrupts in the Task Manager. The second person to log in doesn't have it in the Task Manager.

Is this normal and is there a way to make it available to both logged in users?

PHP 7.4 under nginx with php-fpm - single shared APCu cache - how?

C C

I have a PHP 7.4 set of scripts running with APCu extension, which is used by the code as a general object store for all users who visit the single hosted website. Due to my own lack of understanding, I later found out that the APCu cache is established per PHP process. So what I am seeing is that in some cases user 'a' is getting a different cached value than user 'b' (presumably since PHP-FPM has f ...

My Active Directory maps in Ubuntu systems are very long compared to my CentOS IDs The last 4 digits match but Ubunutu seems to be adding a lot more to the beginning.

In CentOS winbind/samba I used a range to get the IDs I needed:

How to get enough entropy into Docker containers?

Whenever I cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail inside my Docker containers (Linux 5.10 based), I get a double-digit result, which is apparently laughably low. Supposedly anything below 4 digits is bad, and keeping it close to 4096 (the max) is ideal.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
