Local administrator tagged "must change password" when domain user joins azureAD using OOBE

Hi all thanks in advance and sorry if my question is not properly structured, first time I ask instead of just lurk:

  • I have a hybrid on-prem/azureAd environment using dirsync
  • Laptops are imaged with a local administrator account with psswd set to "never expire"
  • Users go through OOBE and join azureAD

After this, the "Administrator" account is disabled - Default windows10 behaviour, OK.

Can i prevent a non-root user using logger to make fake entries (e.g. sshd) in the syslog?
eg flag

i just played with logger an non-root user, but it looks like everyone is able to create fake entries in the syslog using the "-t" parameter.

Is this expected to work this way? I could flood the log or hide some actions below a flood of different fake entries - not good in means of system security.

Can i prevent it? => logger is part of the package util-linux-systemd (previous util-linux) and can ...

I thought about building a device that will behave as a forwarder with VPN. I know that I can e.g. take the internet cable, connect it to rpi, turn on vpn and create wifi hotspot. But I wanted it to be more private device and I can't find any information if it's even possible. So I thought about connecting internet cable to rpi, turning on vpn and then connecting second internet cable to another etherne ...

I have set up an OPNSense instance and installed an OpenVPN server via it. You can see the client configuration below and it works so far. I get a successful connection via the OpenVPN-Client. The problem is that with foreign clients, the internal DNS does not work. Find file duplicates and convert them into links [WINDOWS]
gb flag

My users tend to save tons of duplicate files what consumes more and more space and generate HW and archiving cost.

Im thinking to create some scheduled job, to:

  1. find duplicate files (check file MD5 sum, not only filename / size)
  2. leave only 1 original file
  3. replace other redundant copies by link (shortcut) to file (point above)

Any idea how to archive that?

Script / tool / tips ?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
