Interrupt distribution on intel X710 NIC
id flag

I have a VPN server with Intel X710 and Xeon E5-2630 v4. Debian 10. Based on accel-ppp, pptp protocol. Single SFP interface, two vlans. Problem - interrupts are not evenly distributed across queues. In the first queue, more than 10 times more interrupts come than the rest. Because of this, after running set_irq_affinity -x all ens15f0, my entire load falls on the first core.

Cabling for SAS controller and SuperMicro BPN-SAS-825TQ
jp flag

I´ve managed to get one of the SuperMicro low-end server to my lab. It is chassis 825TQ-R740LPB with a BPN-SAS-825TQ backplane. The specification document is saying, that this backplane is SAS compatible. But the server has a motherboard with only a SATA controller. All 8 SATA ports from the motherboard are connected to the backplane´s SATA ports.

Now, I want to use SAS disks in that enclosure. ...

How do you edit nginx config in Security Onion 2?
it flag

I need to set some nginx.conf values for my Security Onion 2 install due to this issue, but nginx runs inside docker.

Where can I update nginx config values?

I've run locate nginx.conf but none of the results (eg /securityonion/salt/nginx/etc/nginx.conf, /source/nginx/conf/nginx.conf) seem to do anything after editing them and running sudo so-nginx-restart.

Make an outgoing network connection via a specific outgoing IP address on linux

I have a Ubuntu (18.04) linux server with a main network interface eth0, which has 2 IP addresses assigned to it (via systemd-networkd). The ip route routing details are pretty simple, just send all outgoing stuff over IP1. However sometimes I need to make outgoing connections (i.e. ssh connections) that come out from the other IP address, IP2. I could just change the default route for this entire server ...

Jenkins networking configuration parameters are to be used when installing or when running jenkins?

So I've come across the jenkins networking configuration, but from the way it's been written I don't get if I must stop jenkins, and re-run it with these flags; or if I need to uninstall it  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
