Trigger NTP restart after `vagrant resume`
ad flag
kol

I manage some Debian 11 server VMs using Vagrant. Sometimes I need to vagrant suspend them, and I noticed that after vagrant resume, their system time is off. Running systemctl status ntp shows the NTP service is turned off by a failure. I could solve this by restarting NTP manually after vagrant resume, so I wanted to add a trigger to the Vagrantfile:

config.trigger.after :resume do |trigger|

cronjob does not stop postgres
es flag

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 I'm using Postgres that came with apt.

I wrote a simple bash script to stop the database.

#!/bin/bash -x

/etc/init.d/postgresql stop

When running this script in a cronjob owned by root, it does not stop the database.

When I executed the script manually on the command line, it worked as expected. selinux is not enabled.

I then piped STDOUT to a file

NGINX not Serving Image Files Properly

I have set up a django website that would be served by Nginx, everything was working perfectly not until images stopped showing recently.

I tried inspecting the possible cause of this strange development using curl and then realized that the Content-Type is not recognized as Content-Type: image/jpeg returns a Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8

This behavior looks strange as I have included mime.typ ...

How to boot custom .iso from CentOs 7
th flag

I have a custom Windows 10 .iso mounted. I want to boot that .iso so I can overwrite my current VPS's OS (CentOs 7).

I can't get to the boot screen because when I'm connecting via terminal, ssh will only work once the server is completely on. I don't get access to a boot screen.

Most Google results for "centos install new os" take me to tutorials on how to install Centos, which is exactly what I don ...

Is there any tweaks/workarounds that can be done on a windows 10 machine to enable it to access LAN while connected to VPN where the used VPN software (Cisco anyconnect) is configured to deny split tunnel.

i already tried couple other options but to no avail (extra NIC on the WIN10 which adds a second route to LAN) .

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
