Cryptomator Volume on WSL
mk flag

One of my main volumes on Windows, P:, gets encrypted with Cryptomator. I then unlock the vault’s contents via X:, which I want to access using WSL.

I am opening the installed Ubuntu 20.04 WSL distro on the Windows Terminal of my Windows 10 PC. When listing the directories, I get the following:

DESKTOP:/mnt$ ls
c d e g p wsl

So, P:/, the encrypted drive, is detected, however, X:/, the u ...

Exclude Specific Event from writing to Windows Event Log
cn flag

Is it possible to exclude a specific Event ID from being written to the Windows Event Log if the process name in the log is a specific predefined process? If it is possible how do I do this?

There is one particular process that generates exponentially more logs than anything else due to a particular event ID.

Seeking advice regarding ingress versus load balancing for app in microk8s cluster
at flag

I have a seven node microk8s cluster set up on an Ubuntu server in my cellar. multipass shows me I have three IP address per VM since I created these hosts using the bridged network option. I thought having a routable IP might make it easier to expose the VMs and their services to my local network but probably I just made my platform more complex :P

Cannot access docker container from outside the OS that is running it
gb flag

I'm not an heavy user of Unix based systems. And I have some trouble opening a server's port (80) to the public and redirect it to a running container.

So basically, I have a running container on a running Ubuntu server (IP 167.86.106.109), the IP of the container is 127.0.200.1 (and port 80 is open).

Running TELNET 127.0.200.1 80 on 167.86.106.109 and I'm able to do a GET that return 200. From o ...

Bytes-in-flight higher than receiver window in frozen client connections

I am dealing with sort of a "ghost issue". We have an endpoint URL that some people can use at all times with no issues but others have a frozen connection on the client side (checked with multiple client codes written in Java, Python C#) that never finishes while server can see reset connection. I have captured traffic over network that works and it's perfectly synchronized and I can see when the sende ...

How can I set the 'The other domain supports Kerberos AES Encryption' setting programmatically?

In the GUI (Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC Snap-in (domain.msc)), you can set the "The other domain supports Kerberos AES Encryption" setting for a trust relationship:

The other domain supports Kerberos AES Encryption

I am looking for a way to set this setting programmatically. I already reviewed the Install-ADDSDomain PowerShell cmdlet and also the netdom TRUST tool, but both do not seem to include an option to set the Kerberos AES encrypt ...

Attempting to GRE tunnel IP block through public IP (OVH > Hetzner)

(Why) Would email servers stop sending DMARC reports because of DKIM?
cn flag

I have a personal email server I've been running for years; very seldom has there been a problem with sending mail and so I've never really got up to speed with things like SPF, DMARC, and DKIM. Recently, while upgrading the system, I decided to do this.

SPF was very simple, since I use a single, fixed IP address.

DMARC was almost as simple; I set this up initially with a policy of "none" to recei ...

Errors on a zpool filesystem

I'm using ZFS on a Debian 9 machine. This machine has been working for years without any problem until today.

The zfs pool is mounted on top of a RAID system, controlled by hardware (so only one drive is exposed to Linux as sda). You can see the output of "zpool status" below.

Before continuing, just mention that I checked the consistency of the RAID, and everything is fine.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
