Linux server ssh keeps asking for password, what is the correct setup, what is missing?
cn flag

I am trying to connect to ssh2 server. I am able to connect via password, but I needed to setup ssh, so i created the ssh-keygen locally and copied it to server using command ssh-copy-id root@IP_ADDRESS, and double checked, its saved in folder ~/.ssh/authorized_keys.

I changed home and .ssh and authorized key permissions but nothing seems to help and server keeps asking for password.

target name is incorrect or the server has rejected the client credentials

I am trying to run a scheduled task with a user account that only has "domain users" group membership. I can also run the Powershell ISE as this alternate user to simulate this. I am getting the same error. If I run any Active Directory Powershell command like get-aduser or Get-ADDomainController, I get the error: "Either the target name is incorrect or the server has rejected the client credentials." Docker container does not register host name in docker-internal DNS
jp flag

I use Docker to implement a Nextcloud service. For this, I use the official nextcloud-apache image, an Nginx reverse proxy, certbot, and MariaDB. Nothing special, really.

My docker instance runs in swarm mode. All containers run together with the manager on the same host with only one replica for each service, standard overlay network(s). The swarm is started by using a standard compose file.

How can I see when a Ping was lost or not answered?
in flag

When I install Windows updates, or perform other maintenance that at some point involves one or more automatic reboots, I've had the same challenge over and over again for years:

  1. How can I check if the network connection to a specific device was interrupted and how can I log this with timecode? Even if the interruption lasted only a few seconds, as is common when rebooting a VM.

  2. How can I find out wh ...

Nested AD group is not respected with SSSD
be flag

I have a domain joined server, configured with sssd. In sssd.conf I use

ad_access_filter = (memberof=CN=CustomGroup,OU=Security Group,DC=company,DC=com)

This works well for users in CustomGroup but not for users in the Nested_CustomGroup group that is a member of CustomGroup

My sssd.conf looks as follows:

ssh-keyscan Fails to Retrieve Keys from non-FIPS Server
ng flag

We've recently made our client machine FIPS-compliant. But the server we collect keys from using ssh-keyscan is still non-compliant, and may remain so for some time. Running ssh-keyscan fails to return any keys. On a simulated system we get this same behavior, but switching the server to FIPS-compliant makes it work.

How can we make this work between a FIPS-compliant client and a non-FIPS-compli ...

I'm running a 40 thread / 125GB RAM server.

The server is based on CentOS 7.

I have noticed that the server response time is higher when the server is idle:

You can see on the screenshot here that the server response between 4pm and 10PM was lower than during other times.

I looked at the logs and GoogleBot was hitting us at 4 requests / second at that moment which loaded up the server. Most of the reque ...

How to connect to a Cisco VPN in "native mode"?

I need to connect to a VPN, but I am not an expert on the subject at all, so if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

I was given the following data, telling me that this info is for a "Cisco config in native mode". I am going to paste literally the words in the email:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
