What should I set my pm.max_children to for php-fpm?
in flag

I've researched a way to calculate what pm.max_children should be set to for php-fpm but I'm a bit confused as to exactly which numbers I'm supposed to plug into the equation.

The equation is RAM / highest php-fpm usage number with 10% buffer.

When using the free command, these numbers are returned:

total used free shared buff/cache available

A little background: I am building a box that I can ship to a venue that has a Mac Mini and a Sony PTZ camera that connects directly to it via ethernet. I am using a secondary NIC to connect the camera, primary NIC connects to the venues network. From that mac (locally logged in), I can connect, send UDP commands to the camera and everything works.

Now what I want to do, is be able to issue comma ...

Can't ping remote IP of PPTP from SSH
ad flag

I have a Centos7 VPS where I have a web server installed, in the same server I've set up a PPTP VPN to communicate with a device that is connected via ethernet in my router.

The device IP is 10.0.0.37 and I can connect to the device from any PC via PPTP local IP which is 10.1.0.2 since the PC and device are connected to the same PPTP VPN as a client. But I'm not able to ping or reach the device  ...

Configuring virtual host subdomains on a Digital Ocean server using Nginx
am flag

So I just installed and configured Nginx 1.20.2 on my Digital Ocean Ubuntu 18.04 instance. I have purchased a domain through Namecheap, let's call it testdomain.io. I wanted to be able to access my Digital Ocean instance by visiting that domain name, so I configured it to use Digital Ocean's name servers and added the appropriate A records to get it to work. That all works just fine. What I'm trying to  ...

We are working with a PLC (phoenix plc next) which connects to a profinet (and profibus) network. Due to lack of tooling and being unable to rewire things to our needs (the PLC is integrated in our machine) we are looking for different ways to reach some https webserver on the profibus master.

So from some distance, we have a windows PC. This PC is connected through a switch to a PLC. This PLC is ...

Can I change the timeout settings for Group Policy Files Preference policy?
ng flag

Is there a way to change the amount of time the Group Policy Files Preference Policy takes to timeout when the file server is not available? A setting that affects only this preference item is necessary. Perhaps a registry change.

In an isolated backup test lab, we need to start an image of the domain controller first. The domain controller has group policy files preference items applied which re ...

Temporarily prevent SMB file from being locked in-use - Windows
cn flag

I have a file \\server\share\myApp\app.exe that a handful of people run directly from the share. I need to update that file occasionally, but it is usually locked due to the open SMB sessions.

My normal procedure for similar SMB locked files is to close the files and sessions locking them like:

$openAppFiles = Get-SmbOpenFile | Where Path -like 'D:\Shares\myApp\*'
$appSessions = $openAppFiles | S ...

Is it possible to do screen recording on AWS workspaces?
in flag

I've been used to using tools like observit and cyberark psm for screen recording. Moving to a more distributed cloud-based toolset and want to keep the same level of compilance, is there a way to do screen recording of AWS workspace instances. The 'monitoring' in AWS docs is just talking about cloudwatch metrics and stuff, but that wouldn't satisfy the level of compliance I need.

Say I factory reset a machine, or just installed Windows on it.

Is there a way to use Get-WinEventLog to find a log message to indicate this is the first time since the installation of the OS that the machine booted?

I want to prove that I factory reset a machine and after reloading the software on it, that I am still getting the same result as before I factory reset it.

What are the correct Postfix settings to enable legacy TLS v1.0 connections from an aging Windows XP box?
in flag

I have an aging WinXP Embedded SP3 box (don't judge; We're in the process of deprecating it) which need to send email for status updates etc.

This used to use GMail but they're going to turn off support for insecure apps soon so we need a work around to resolve the issue in the short term. To that end, I've set up a ubuntu-linux-based postfix (v3.4.13) server and have tried to configure it to all ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
