Configuring RDS for offsite access

cn flag

I've setup an classic RDS server in Azure for testing. This consists of 3 servers for initial testing

  • RDSAPP01 - Test app's beeing published
  • RDSBRK01 - Connection Broker
  • RDSWEB01 - Gateway/Web Access

I've setup a DNS record "rds.domain.com" to point to RDSWEB01 internally, and externally have "rds.domain.com" pointing to our application proxy. I've got SSO and also Application Proxy working which is great while onsite and on the VPN. While onsite, everything works well.

I can browse to rds.domain.com and it loads and applications work well. The issue is when i'm offsite and off the VPN. I can browse to rds.domain.com and the page loads (using SSO with application proxy), but when I try open an app, I get prompted for a login to RDSBRK01.domain.com, but suspect as this is an internal DNS record, it won't work.

I'm assuming I either need to make a change to my setup or add a second external DNS entry to another server, but for the life of me can't seem to find any documentation/support to guide me forward.

Appreciate any guidance anyone could offer

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
