"Access denied: User needs LabelOther permission(s)"on TFS2010

We have several applications whose source is stored in a TFS2010 database. We also have an application which gets the latest source from TFS and build a release. Obviously, both of these have been around for nearly a decade.

One action the build tool does is to add a Label to the changeset history to record that a release has been done.

Recently, we've started to get the error that users can't execute the label method because they don't have LabelOther permission.

TFS2010 does not have an admin web interface that I'm aware of so is managed from the Team... menu on VS2019. Under here, there seem to be a limited number of 'permissions' for the Contributors group and nothing as fine-grained as a LabelOther permission. The TFS Admin Console on the server seems even more limited in security support for team projects.

More senior developers, many of whom are project administrators, don't have this issue, but, obviously, we don't want to make all new developer administrator.

Does anyone know how to add the LabelOther permission to the Contributors group on TFS2010?

After further thought, I've tried the command line 'tf vc permission /allow:LabelOther /group:...'. Waiting for user to see if it works.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
