Grafana anonymous user unable to modify default dashboard

pt flag

...or, when does Admin not mean Admin?

I have Grafana configured to permit anonymous access:

GF_AUTH_ANONYMOUS_ENABLED=true
GF_AUTH_ANONYMOUS_ORG_NAME=Main Org.
GF_AUTH_ANONYMOUS_ORG_ROLE=Admin

For the most part this works great, but with the anonymous user I seem to be unable to do certain things, such as:

  • Modify the default bashboard (e.g., I can't clink the "Remove this panel" link in the "basic steps" panel).
  • I can't star any dashboards

Either of the above tasks results in an "Unauthorized" warning popping up, and either nothing happens (when trying to star a dashboard) or it seems to work, but actually doesn't (the panel disappears but it's back when I reload the page).

Is there a configuration error on my part, or is it simply not possible for an anonymous user to do these things?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
