Moving AD DNS records from bind to AD

br flag

I have a BIND DNS server serving example.com zone. Many hosts belong to example.com but one of hosts is a domain controller of ad.example.com. AD was installed without DNS support and store its records in main zone. I would like to move ad.example.com records to domain controller thus example.com will have only NS records pointing to AD.

What is the right approach to move *.ad.example.com to AD DNS and switching AD to use its own DNS server?

There are a lot of threads on this around and it looks like a common approach is to make AD a secondary server and have it sync from BIND - the switch to primary. Rather than recreate the wheel, I suggest you read a couple articles and come up with an approach then maybe come here to validate them.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
