Mumble admin can speak to clients, but clients cannto speak with each other

mx flag

I want to setup a mumble server with the following settins: the admin can speak to each client but clients cannot speak to each other.

Moreover, I also want everyone to speak to each other when the admin enabled this (must be easy to enable and disable)

Because I only have 2 clients and one admin, I tried this channel hierarchy:

root (channel)
 -> client 0 (channel)
      -> client 0 (user)
 -> client 1 (channel)
      -> client 1 (user)

this would work if the parent and root channel can talk to each other, but not sibling channels. Also, moving client 1 to channel 0 is the desired outcome that everyone can talk to each other quickly.

I tried linking root with client 0 and root with client 1 but I don't know how, it seems like all channels are linked now.

Is this the right way? If so, how to link the channels propery?

EDIT:

It seem to work as follows but I don't know why this works:

Setup this channel and user hierarchy

root (channel)
 -> client 0 (channel)
      -> client 0 (user)
 -> client 1 (channel)
      -> client 1 (user)

Link all 3 channels and then:

  • Assign client 0 and client 1 to the clients group
  • deny speak for clients in all 3 groups

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
