SuperMicro PXE Boot through PCI NIC

cn flag

ServerFault.

I am facing an issue booting through PXE on a SuperMicro server.

The NIC that is supposed to boot through PXE is an Intel 10GE 82599ES SFI/SFP+, One server works well. But other servers that run on the same Hardware don't work.

Sometimes the Version of the Boot Agent isn't the same on other SuperMicro MotherBoards, the Boot agent doesn't detect the 10GE card. Does the card need to be inserted in a specific PCI slot to be recognized by the boot agent?

Clarification: The 10GE NIC is a secondary card, the main Card has a capacy of 1GE but it's always recognized by the Boot Agent.

So what is the actual issue? "don't work" could be anything, did you connect the cable? Post actual output and explain the issue. Is the NIC ROM enabled?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
