Changing an A record

de flag

I'm new at this and want to make sure I'm understanding A records completely. If I change the A record for my domain name, traffic for that domain name will be redirected to the new IP address, correct? We have a Google hosted domain and a ShowIt website. We are building a landing page on MailChimp. MailChimp's instructions say to change our domain A records and CNAME. If I follow these directions, then ALL traffic would go to the landing page instead of the ShowIt site... right?

There seems to be a misunderstanding of what an A record is. There isn’t “The A Record.” There are multiple A records, usually, for any domain. If your domain is example.com then there may be multiple A records, one for each of “www.example.com”, “mail.example.com”, “mailchimp.example.com” or whatever. A CNAME is just an alias that points to another A record.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
