AWS/IAM: Implementing 2-person rule with IAM permissions

cn flag

I would like to implement a 2-person rule with IAM permissions in AWS.

Essentially, for certain privileged operations exposed by AWS services, I would like to require the approval of a second individual.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

In my 5 years using AWS I've not heard of a feature like this. You could have a process such as one person having the password and another the MFA token to prevent logins, but once logged in the user privileges are fixed. I have no doubt there is a way to achieve this but I'm not sure if it can be done simply. For example, the second person could log in, add an IAM policy to the first person for a short time, then remove the policy, but that's messy.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
