Can Apache MirrorMaker2 run on only one server?

ir flag

I have a couple of test clusters (3 nodes in each) and I’m trying to configure them such that one runs in one country and another in another country (hypothetically).

I have read that remote consume and local produce is the pattern to follow. With that in mind I’ve spun up a MM2 instance in each location.

I configured one cluster to replicate A->B and the other B->A I.e. two one way replication configurations.

I have A-To-B as a topic in one I.e. A->B.topics = A-To-B

And B-To-A in the other I.e. B->A.topics = B-To-A

This will not work…

Running a single instance in A does replicate both as expected but one must be pushing (local consume remote produce) and one must be pulling (remote consume local produce)

I want both to Pull.

Is this not possible with the Dedicated/Stand Alone option? Would I need a connect cluster to be able to forcibly tell it what to do?

I can see mirrormaker metrics but only from one side, the other has some related connect metrics but they don’t seem to be populated. I would have thought if there were two mirror makers I’d see metrics on each side.

If it all runs on one MirrorMaker box so be it, I just need to be 100% on this.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
