How to force array rebuild on HP smart array (ssacli)

va flag

i recently replaced a failed drive on my HW RAID 5 array in my home server. i am running a custom built machine (read: built from whatever parts i thought might fit together). the HW RAID controller is a HP P420 card, running a 5x8TB RAID 5 array with one spare drive (plan was to run RAID 6 but i need a subscription for that)

After i had a failed drive, i replaced it. i am just now checking the array and see that it is "ready for rebuild" but not rebuilding. is there any way to order the array to start rebuilding? or to give me any diagnostics?

Some other answers say there could be a problem with some of the other drives. for now the volume is working properly, and i have not percieved any data loss or performance drop (it's my home NAS)

I have also attempted to use the ssaoffline.iso tool to boot up directly to the GUI version of ssa, it works if i just dump the contents of the .iso onto a FAT32 drive (manual says dump contents on windows USB drive), but the system hangs on boot because it cannot mount the 'cdrom' filesystem.

thank you for your help

here is the situation before the replacement:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
