ModSecurity : How prevent the body to be displayed in the JSON output?

jp flag

Using Modsecurity, I write the catched requests in a log, in a JSON format. The body field is too verbose for my ELK index, and generates a lot of parsing errors.

Can I disable the presence of the body in the JSON log ?

Are you logging directly to your ELK stack OR to a log file and using something like filebeat or similar to read/tail that log file and send the events found to your ELK?

I'm logging to a file, then rsyslog sends it to a server where logstash parse it and send it to elasticsearch.

The variable SecAuditLogParts can be set in /etc/modsecurity.conf :

eg :

SecAuditLogParts ABHJZ

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
