Is there a way to configure port security on Linux bridge?
in flag

On switches there is such a feature as Port Security. Roughly speaking it allows to control, which exactly MAC's can be on the specific switch port. You can restrict it to just one MAC or several, and Ethernet frames from some new device will be blocked.

So is there a way to do it in Linux bridge?

VM Instance - Create CPU Usage alert for specific users
in flag

I'm working on a project where alerts are received each time a VM Instance CPU usage surpasses a certain limit. However, all alerts are transmitted to the whole team. My goal is:

  • Manage alerts as for those same alerts to be sent only for the VM Instance's user/s, and not the whole organization.

Could you please tell me if it is possible to do so and, if so, tell me how? Thanks

I need to take a box that is part of 2-node DRBD cluster offline for hardware servicing.

How do I force the primary (the other?) DRBD node to StandAlone so that I can turn the other node down?

Just turn it off? Is it safe to do that?

Disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 on Windows
in flag

I was disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 (finally) which worked wonderfully for all but one user. When this user tries to connect to an SQLExpress server it forces her to use TLS 1.0 and refuses 1.2 if I or any other user attempts the same connection the communication is in TLS 1.2 with no problems.

This users computer is running Windows 20h2 and the server is running windows Server 2016 Datacenter.

How to duplicate iStat Menus memory usage from a shell?
cn flag

I'm using MacOS 11.6. I've written a small cron job that measures memory usage of a process and, if that usage exceeds a threshold, pops up a notification on screen. (The point is to remind me when a leaky process gets so big that it's time to restart it.)

All of this works just fine except the memory usage calculated by my technique never matches what iStat Menus reports (mine is always lower) a ...

I am the only user on a Mac and my company IT people are at a lost to get me on the VWAN . They use Azure VPN and need me to use the 'Azure VPN Client' (from the app store).

The problem is that the Azure VPN Client won't even load the generic ovpn.xml file they sent me (which works on Windows, or so they say).

The error log says that the import failed with some reference fo Swift function calls:

How to setup IPv6 on a Debian 11 VPS?

Regarding the use of alternative names, the man page says (and I don't fully understand):

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
