AWS cdk environment strategy: one per branch, one per developer, or only dev/staging/prod?
tt flag

we're currently setup with a dev, staging, and prod environments on aws. We're finding it hard to do QA properly, since often many commits happen in a short span of time, and are all included in a codepipeline build, which makes it hard to associate failures to a specific commit.

We were looking into spinning up one environment per feature branch, in a manner similar what this aws quickstart example i ...

rsync does not respect exclude parameter copying from remote server

I am using rsync like below to copy the whole filesystem of the remote server with the hostname "beton" to a local directory. I would like to exclude virtual directories like proc, but even if I use the exclude parameter, it is still copied!

nslookup -type=txt machelpnashville.com 8.8.8.8

dig machelpnashville.com TXT 8.8.8.8

They return the four records that have the name @ but they ignore the other four records that are there. is there a way to pull ALL TXT records using a wildcard?

How run a dnsmasq inside QEMU, providing netboot service to other VMs
ph flag

EDIT: WIP: The core reason for the failures explained below is due to me not bringing up the host TAP interfaces at the right time, if I allow QEMU to handle the creation of the tap devices, everything works as expected. I will investigate the failure in more detail and provide a clearer explanation of the problem when I have it. Thank you @anx for the tips!

raspberry pi - no ethernet connection on unrelated IPv6 change in router

My raspberry pi is reachable via Putty at 192.168.0.112. As soon as I change IPv6 settings in the router from DHCP-PD enabled to disabled (because I am trying to understand of IPv6 works), I can no longer connect to the pi. The pi is even not showing up when I scan the full subnet 192.168.0.0/24. The router has DHCP (IPv4) enabled, but the pi has a manually assigned static ip.

I'm only using the VPN connection to backup the VPS drives to my SMB drives, and I want everything else to go thru a non-tunneled connection.

How can I do this?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
