Add domain users to a group of security groups via group policy
pe flag

Is there a way to add domain users to a collection of security groups via group policy? We have some SSO groups that all employees share. Instead of tech support person having to manually add new user to each of these groups, we'd like to push them via GP. The reason is that sometime, our tech person would miss adding one or more of the groups during user creation.

Cannot enable OpenLDAP memberOf of Ubuntu 20.04
cn flag

I've spent the last few days following multiple how to guides to create an LDAP server with memberOf enabled, on a fully updated clean install of Ubuntu Server 20.04.2, purging between each attempt.

Most recently I've tried using the Perl Module slapdconf (https://github.com/Evolveum/slapdconf). The commands I ran were:

sudo apt install slapd ldap-utils
sudo apt install libnet-ldap-perl libauthen- ...

Rebooted Ubuntu server, nginx site no longer accessible from browser
pk flag

I rebooted my Ubuntu server this morning because I was having what appeared to be a low-memory error (happens occasionally, hasn't been enough of a problem to try and fix it). But now, my site (which was previously working fine) is no longer accessible from the browser.

The setup: I'm running a NuxtJS site using pm2 to daemonize it, and nginx as a reverse proxy. I have a post-receive git hook so  ...

Cannot install deb command in Debian Docker image
im flag

I'm trying to install a deb package in a Docker image.

I based my Dockerfile on continuumio/miniconda3 that's a Python/Debian image.

This works fine in Debian 9 but not when I try to build my Docker image. The problem that I have is that the deb command is not in Debian, and I cannot find a way to install it in the image. Any ideas how to install the deb command or another way to run that statement? ...

How to remove git from a specific folder?
tl flag

I have a CentOS 7 system. It has git 2.27.0 installed, but that install, for reasons we can't figure out, won't talk to our https gitlab instance. It keeps failing on "unable to find remote helper for 'https'".

So, I attempted to upgrade git, using 'sudo yum upgrade git', which claims there's no git package installed. But if I do a 'git --version', I get "git version 2.27.0". A "whereis git"  ...

LSI CacheCade Pro 2.0 with four SSD cache?
ph flag

I'm trying to configure CacheCode Pro 2.0 on a LSI 9260CV-8i SAS RAID controller with four SATA SSDs. I've been running CacheCade with two SATA 400GB SSDs with no problems for a while. The CacheCade drive group was configured with two SATA 400GB SSDs in RAID1. When I added two additional SATA SSDs to the backplane, CacheCade (or the MegaRAID BIOS Configuration Utility) did not let me add the two new SSD ...

MySQL 8.0.26 doesn't start after saving my.ini

This is a fresh install of the latest version of MySQL at the time of writing (8.0.26) on a fresh install of a Windows 2019 Server Std, on a new HP ProLiant DL360 G10.

After installation and some configuration, I found that the MySQL80 service would not start back up if I stopped it. After a lot of reinstallations, I found that just saving the my.ini file was causing that. And by saving, I don't  ...

I recently asked this same question here about a month ago -> BitLocker Recovery Keys Not Showing in Active Directory

But things have changed now and I am still getting the same results. I am going to go as into detail as I can for this post so I don't have to make any more posts (hopefully).

BeegFS cluster - One node dead, need to move on without it
rs flag

As the title suggests, a cluster consisting of four machines has one dead machine in the rack.

The cluster is set up with a buddy mirror system for redundancy, so the data should still be intact. The dead machine is the secondary in its mirror group, so how does one start the cluster and ignore any warnings and errors that would stem from the machine that is unreachable?

I have added the following to /etc/fstab, which I understood would automatically mount upon startup of the machine.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
