How to avoid CPU spikes during Symantec scans
nl flag

Recently, we moved our servers and infrastructures to AWS. We observed that the load on our servers are very low. But just during the Symantec scans, the CPU load spikes to 50% or more. If it was not for the spikes during the Symantec scans, we could have gone for a lower configuration on EC2 instances.

Is this a known issue? Or is there way to control the CPU utilization during the Symantec scan ...

I am running a SAAS company that is websited at www.mycompany.com, and I have a business-partner that is websited at www.mypartner.com. I'd like to redirect a user which is logged-in to www.mypartner.com portal to www.mycompany.com without requiring the user to login again.

I understand that oAuth 2.0 is the right solution to this problem. I am wondering, however, if there are any lighter alternatives, ...

Link a GPO to an OU or security group, Who will win?
tr flag
Tom

Here's the scenario: A GPO is linked to an OU to enable, for example, UAC setting. However, since there are certain systems that require UAC to be disabled, there is a GPO that disables these settings. This GPO is linked to a security group. Those systems are member of the specific security group and will still be placed in the OU with the "enabled" settings GPO for UAC.

So which GPO is the winne ...

How to access AWS Direct Connect virtual private gateway behind PrivateLink NLB?

I need to install a Direct Connect private gateway in account A which provides access to on-premises resources. There are multiple (20+) VPCs in different accounts (B, C, D, ...) which require access to the on-premises resources. The VPCs have overlapping CIDRs. Gitea under Configuration Management: Generated and Static Settings

I need to set up a Gitea server for an organization. The setup itself is easy, and I managed to bring up Gitea within an hour when installing it manually.

However, my organisation uses a configuration management tool, which handles secrets and configuration settings. So the idea is that I create /etc/gitea/app.ini using a configuration file template.

But when I run the Gitea setup, additional valu ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
