macOS Big Sur Directory Utility not able to connect to LDAP Server

I am trying to get Mac OS X to authenticate with LDAP. I set up a Ubuntu 20.04 server with Open LDAP (slapd). I did an elaborate setup with TLS, SSL, No anonymous auth, etc.

I was able to use this server to log in to Linux clients. Also, I was able to connect, browse and Modify directory entries from Apache Directory Studio.

But when I tried to connect to this LDAP server with macOS Big Sur Director ...

Do network acls block inter-subnet traffic as well?
in flag

I have VMs placed in different AZs on AWS. In order to be able to do this, you need a subnet in each AZ.

If I'm creating a network acl for the entire setup (ie to be associated with all subnets) do I need to specify allow rules from all the subnet CIDR ranges? If I don't, will the network acl block inter-subnet traffic based on my port rules?

I'm assuming they will...but want confirmation.

AWS network-acl blocking nginx dns resolution
in flag

I'm trying to lock down ports on my subnets, and am having a problem with an nginx instance that I'm running on ECS.

Traffic comes into the system on :443 to an ELB, which routes some of it to an nginx instance running on ECS, which proxy_pass-es it on to an external www address.

The nginx is set to proxy_pass to a domain name, and it's using an nginx resolver configuration: resolver 8.8.8.8 ipv6=off val ...

How does using an inboud NAT help in terms of security?

When creating a VM, I didn't give it a public ip address to RDP into it since that won't be secure. I made a public load balancer and added the VM to the backend pool and created an inbound nat rule with the VM as the target using port 3389.

How does using an Inbound NAT in Load balancer help in terms of security?, since it would forward all RDP's to our VM anyway making it feel as if the public  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
