Emails sent with postfix treated as spam, and sometimes not delivered at all
na flag

I'm trying to set up sending emails with SMTP on my VPS running Ubuntu 18.04. I'm using postfix, nodemailer.

When I send from an [email protected], to a gmail account, it gets stuck in the gmail spam folder. I got a score of 6.8 on www.mail-tester.com, with these deductions:

does anyone have a solution for me to access a subfolder of my application behind nginx proxy?
us flag

I have two servers with different IP addresses:

  • Tomcat serving my webapp https://app1.domain.com (centos6)
  • Nginx acting as waf via https://nginx.domain.com (centos7)

Nginx is running on port 443, and I'm using it to reverse proxy my webapp this way:

location /app1/ {
    rewrite ^/app1(.*) /$1 break;
    proxy_pass https://app1.domain.com/;
}

This way, I normally access my webapp via nginx through

I'm trying to implement "XEP-0313" protocol on our "ejabberd" server -archiving service, I found "ejabberd-mod-mam" module, but I have some notes and questions

2- According to its README.md it is compatible with "XEP-0313" v2 only and the current is v3, even that in "XEP-0313" home page shows the current version is 1 ...

Tool to calculate cpu time between certain ETW events
us flag

I'm trying to measure the kernel and usermode time spent in certain blocks of C++ code.

I know about GetProcessTimes but since there's ETW i could also provide events for enter and leave of the blocks and trace those events together with the performance counters for kernel and usermode time.

What i don't know is if there's a tool which then can be used to calculate those differences, e.g. search for ...

Write original Ansible variable to xml file
br flag

I'm trying to find a way to write the original {{ ansible_host }} var in to a xml file. This variable will replace a static IP in a device config. The reason that I want to replace this IP with the original variable in the file, is because later in my playbook that variable gives me the option to make the file compatible with multiple devices.

Setting up a trust to an AD environment with DCs on premise and in Azure, how can I limit AD traffic to only the on-premise DCs?
us flag
R C

We are setting up a trust between a stand-alone on-premise domain (DMZ from now on) and a corporate domain which is AD/AAD (synched) (CORP from now on) so that users from CORP can log into servers joined to DMZ. To be clear, they're on separate forests.

My intention is to set up an external, non-transitive trust from DMZ to CORP.

Now, the thing is - the CORP domain has two domain controllers on-prem ...

VSFTPD default permissions for new files vs new directories
pk flag

I'm running vsftpd and have a specific question:

The file_open_mode and local_umask options let me configure, what permissions a newly created file/folder should have.

The problem: I want 0660 for new files but 0770 for new folders (All files and folders should be readable and writable by owner and group - folders need the executable bit so that it's possible to open them)

How can I configure that?

I'm an admin of small network and I'm investigating a problem my users complain about. The root of their complaints is traceroute: sometimes routers along the path simply don't respond to traceroute probes and users see timeouts (those *s in place of RTT).

The network consists of a few Linux routers connected by Ethernet/wireless. Linux routers 99% idle, link utilization 20 mbit/s, 2000 packets/s ...

I have set up a new service on my windows server. This service is a python script that, when run in a terminal, prints to it some interesting (especially when things fail) information. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
