No route to host, strange behavior
es flag

On my Fedora35 host I'm running a KVM virtual machine with a bringed network. When I try to connect to port 80 of the virtual machine from the host I'm getting no route to host, but all working fine for port 22

Please help me to understand why routing depends on the port number, which setting controls this behavior?

FreeNAS unable to resolve hostnames, ping of any external IP returns host's ip instead
ao flag

The internal IP address of my router changed, and ever since TrueNAS has been misbehaving. None of the jails can resolve a hostname anymore. In troubleshooting this, I discovered that the client cannot ping any external IP address without the response being from the host.

For info:

  • In this example, the client jail's IP is 10.153.2.250
  • The host's (FreeNAS) IP is 10.153.2.9
  • The new gateway is 10.0. ...

Odd TLS Error when using curl on origin server x.509

I am hoping someone can help explain what is happening in this situation..

As of now, I have a domain from google domains and I am using cloudflare for my DNS management. I am not using any TLS/SSL features from cloudflare, universal SSL is off, and not proxying my DNS requests either. I use caddy as my reverse proxy on my server and I am using the built-in acme client that gets certificates from ...

2016 - 2019 - Wrong SSRS Instance Processing Report Render Request
bd flag

I have inherited a very weird anomaly in SSRS. A new SSRS instance was created using 2019 and it appears it is using the same ReportServer DB as previous 2016 instance. This may have been done to avoid porting thousands of reports and associated items.

  • The 2016 instance seems to still be running, however, the account used to access the ReportingService db is no longer valid, thus any attempts to a ...

DHCP pushed route to custom table on Linux
tr flag

Is there a way I can direct routes that I receive from DHCP to a specific routing table depending on what interface it was received on?

E.g. eth0 and eth1 are both configured by DHCP. I would like the default route from eth0 to end up in my main table while the default route from eth1 should end up in another routing table.

I use Ubuntu with netplan to configure the network settings.

Chrome enterprise set custom setting for extension
us flag

We have developed a browser extension and wish to distribute it.

A license key is required to use our chrome extension. This value should be set by the system administrators and not by individual end users.

How can we let administrators pass the license key via group policy or other device management configuration?

mysql, relocating individual databases vs entire data directory

I need to relocate mysql customer databases to another disk, for the purposes of:

 1. Separation of user data from system files
 2. Ease of backing up system and user data separately
 3. Ease of upgrading the system

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
