Best Way to Force use of SSL Certificate
id flag

When a browser connects to my website by entering it's FQDN the connection is encrypted using the site's SSL Certificate.

However it has come to my attention that it is possible to bypass the SSL and initiate an unencrypted connection by entering the load balancer IP Address (in which case you get an error saying it could not be encrypted).

The link below suggests that I could solve this with a redi ...

GKE Node auto-provisioning not scaling up with limits defined
us flag

I want to use GKE node auto-provisioning to create a node-pool with GPU on demand (that is when I start a Job that needs GPU resources).

Going with the GCP tutorial I've set up a cluster with enabled cluster autoscaling and node auto-provisioning. NAP has set up limits for CPU, Memory and GPU:

resourceLimits:
  - maximum: '15'
    minimum: '1'
    resourceType: cpu

Is using Azure Data Factory for transformation of Azure hosted Snowflake efficient?
us flag

I'm trying to understand the efficiency of using Azure Data Factory for transforming data within Snowflake (Azure based). We have two possible scenarios and want to pick the most efficient:

Scenario 1:

  • Data Factory orchestrates the ingestion of raw data to Azure SQL
  • Data Factory orchestrates the transformation and loading of raw data in Azure SQL to summary tables in Snowflake. Historic raw data is kept  ...

How to properly design a 300TB array?
us flag

I'm trying to figure out good practices for building a large 300TB array. Performance is not a priority, only the 300TB usable storage target plus redundancy. And yes I will be taking backups. My planned hardware has 18 HDD slots and 12 HDD slots. Might be able to get another 12 HDD slots.

Right now I was thinking of having a 16TB x 16 raid 60 array + 2 hot spares for 192TB And 16TB x 10 raid 6 + ...

Can we get the specifications of all available Google Cloud virtual machines?
in flag

Is there a way to get the specifications (CPU, RAM, storage, ...) of all available virtual machines ? I tried using the Compute API, but, as I understand, we only get the virtual machines that we are using in a project.

I tried their API using both their website and their .NET SDK, and I didn't get the "items" list in the JSON response. But the thing is, I want to know the specifications of the v ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
