My IIS URL Rewrite rule is not working for my IIS website
ru flag

I have an IIS Server on Windows Server 2016 where I host one website.

The site is using bindings so that both of these domains, astro.resources.teams.org and astronomyteams.org, goto to the same website on both http and https.

But that means the user will see either astro.resources.teams.org or astronomyteams.org in the browser depending on their bookmark or what domain they type into the browser.

Outlook with local exchange account asking for Microsoft online login

I seem to have more and more issues with Microsoft pushing to try and force everything into their online service lately.

As of today I suddenly have two workstations that refuse to stay connected to Exchange. This is a local domain and a local Exchange server. Out of the blue they now pop up with a Microsoft online login window on start-up. If I close the window, the account status changes from b ...

Windows NTP Server Registry Configuration

Is it safe to use Internet-facing RDP in combination with IP-whitelisting on Windows Firewall?
in flag

I am using a VPS that I connect to using RDP over the internet. Since I was experiencing an incessant stream of brute force attacks on the RDP, I configured the windows firewall to only allow certain IP-addresses to connect. This seems to work like a charm as the Failed Audit Log stays clean now. Yet I wonder if this practice is in fact secure.

Setup DNS Server to resolve hostnames via OpenVPN
id flag

This is a pretty basic question, but I never worked with DNS Servers.

I have an OpenVPN server hosted on our NAS. Coworkers from the home office connect to the NAS with our OpenVPN, but windows machines can't resolve hostnames. They can only use the IP instead of the servername to connect to it. This is pretty bad for sharing network paths.

My workaround right now is to map the IP with the servernam ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
