PHP PDO Very Slow on Fetch
in flag

I have a problem with a couple of queries running in PDO on PHP connecting to MSSQL server 2019. I have checked the time in SSMS and its fast. I have also added some timers into my code so I can see the time to execute the query and the time to fetch the data.

I have found the fetching of the data is the issue.

The query is about 0.5 seconds, but the data is taking 5-10 seconds to come across to PHP ...

PDFTron - Permissions Issue Despite User being Admin
us flag

Hi,

Hoping there's some PDFTron guru's out here that may be able to help. I'm getting the attached error from PDFTron when it tries to convert any document to PDF, including the Windows Test Print (that windows thinks is successful). The error would suggest a User permissions issue, but User has been given local admin rights to test with and still gets the same. So do I as a Domain Admin. The ver ...

How to set SQL-Always-On in Kubernetes Linux container?
uz flag

I raised 3 pods of SQL servers in Kubernetes:

  • 1 as a primary DB
  • 2 others as Secondary DBs

I want to set SQL-Always-On feature between those 3 DBs in a way that:

  • In SSMS the 3 DBs will be "Synchronized"
  • In SSMS I want to be able to click "Failover" on Primary DB (then Secondary DB become active)

What are the steps for creating this mechanism?

"Remember" the CLI commands you ran for a server
cn flag

Assume you have a third party program running on a server.

To configure it, you log in, apply some CLI commands and leave again.

Every time you do this, you also copy and paste the commands to some file in your git, so that in the future, you can figure out what was configured and you are also able to configure the server again if you ever need to.

This is prone to error.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
