Why is autodiscover getting the wrong server?
us flag

Outlook clients are popping up the "do you want to allow this server" autodiscover box, but with the wrong server name in it. It pops up with a server name that is gone years ago. All our DNS (internal and external as we're split zone) clearly have the current server specified for autodiscover. I've gone as far as searching registries, other DNS zones, policies, etc and can find no trace of this old  ...

Which wifi adapters can create/host 802.11ac?
ca flag

I'm trying to find the keyword which proves/states that an USB wifi adapter can act as an 802.11ac access-point.

So far I have tried 3x 802.11ac usb adapters and the internal card on a Pi4. All have only been able to create 802.11n networks. At this stage I do not believe it is a configuration/driver issue as all USB adapters have been tested using ubuntu (Pi4) and Win10 on an x86_64 device with  ...

Infrastructure Modernization
ng flag

About 7 years ago, I put in a W2012 Server Infrastructure (Now W2016) for a small (<$5MM) 3PL company. They have (2) locations with most users on prem. The owner had a small budget and I didn't have a lot to work with.

I ended up putting in VMWARE ESXi (I think v5 at the time, now running v6.7) running on an Old Dell R720 and a newer R730. It is primarily running VCSA managing four VMs (VCSA,  ...

Adding IPv6 interface into ifconfig worked but host unreachable when use it
in flag

I have VPS run on Ubuntu 20.04, I was asking to Customer Service of my VPS Provider, she said their service (VPS) currently is not supporting IPv6. Since she is not technical support, I believe my VPS itself support IPv6.

I said so because my VPS is responding another IPv6 when I ping my VPS. Not only ping, But also HTTP request with using IPv6. When I open my website which hosted in that VPS. I  ...

Increased AWS EBS to more than 2TB and found out MBR is limited to 2TB
cn flag
Pat

we just ran almost out of space on our main EC2 instance. I wanted to increase the EBS volume size to 2.5TB from 2TB.

However, I noticed that I could not increase the partition anymore due to the MBR limit of 2TB.

I should've known that before...Is there any way to use the 500GB without much downtime, e.g., by creating a new partition? But since it is the root volume I'm not sure if this is even pos ...

Gitlab: Possible to specify roles in Azure AD manifest?
cn flag

I already use Azure AD for login to Gitlab and now I want to manage roles (Regular user, Admin user) in Azure AD as well and pass them to Gitlab. Roles can be stored in the Azure Manifest, which are then recognized by the application. Is this also possible for Gitlab CE?

Here is an example for Grafana: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/auth/azuread/

Allow access to lab network in addition to main network using OpenVPN?
us flag

I have an OpenVPN Server on a Debian VM on the 192.168.0.0/24 network so that I can access it from outside. I have recently created a new Lab network that has the subnet 10.20.5.0 so that I can practice networking on a pfSense VM in Proxmox. The WAN of the Lab network is setup to be 192.168.0.15, which is inside the main network. I have tried to use push "route 10.20.5.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.15" ...

Tracking Down Source of Network Instability

If the issue happens, it happens at 10am, for about 1minute between onset and return to stability. It does not happen every day. During the minute, pings go through the roof and packets start to drop, then the pings settle down and packets stop dropping, everything is fine again. This occurs on our wifi to the point that wifi users effectively loose internet, signs of the issue are visible on the wired ...

I've been testing weather the port using the following powershell command: Test-NetConnection -ComputerName portquiz.net -Port 80 which could be the issue however I have tried with other sites.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
