CentOS - make Samba share available via nginx

I have a collection of files on a Windows share named \\winserver\bucket.

On a CentOS server, I am able to mount it so the content is available for perusal. I created an empty directory named /mnt/bucket for mounting.

sudo mount -t cifs -o credentials=/root/bucket.ini \\\\winserver\\bucket /mnt/bucket

The Windows credentials are stored in a relatively secure file (/root/bucket.ini), and I plan  ...

I need an explaination as to what is happening when I change the zone file of a DNSSEC enabled domain

I recently moved our hidden DNS master service to a new host, DNS38. The original master service is still running but is not being polled at the present time.

The old master, and all the authoritative slaves, are running bind-9.11. The new master host is running bind-9.16.

DNSSEC is enabled for the domain I am dealing with. We use dnssec-validation auto; and auto-dnssec maintain; inline-signing y ...

Rewriting Packet Destination using iptables and nftables

I have a RHEL 7 (IP 192.168.0.10/24) and RHEL 8 (IP 192.168.0.11/24) host both of which are getting duplicated packets from a router which are intended for a different host (IP 192.168.1.10/24). How can I use iptables on the RHEL 7 host and nftables on the RHEL 8 host to modify the destination IP so that each host receives the packet as if it was truly the destination?

Windows doesn't create assign "Key Container" when adding cert tied to Cavium (AWS CloudHSMv2)

I've got two windows systems tied to the AWS CloudHSM v2 (the cavium HSM). On one, I generated the CSR, and accepts/added the cert purchased with that CSR. I can sign and the private key is pulled properly from the HSM via the Key Container.

The other signing is my production signing system and it is working properly with the existing cert but when I try to add the new cert, no Key Container is setup. ...

Cisco ASA IPv6 single ::/64 prefix assignment

I am configuring public IPv6 (dual stack w/static IPv4 block) on an ASA 5506 ver 9.9(2)36. The ISP has assigned a single /64 prefix where 2001:2:3:4::1 (not actual IP) is their equipment and 2001:2:3:4::2 could be our ASA. For a static IPv6 assignment I've typically seen the ISP provide a /126 block for our equipment with a routed /64 (or larger) for LAN devices. I have never configured an ASA wit ...

How to implement Continuous Integration with Puppet and multiple services

We're trying to implement a Continuous Integration pipeline in our environment. We have a lot of different services, each with its own Git repository. Deployment is done via Puppet, using an external node classifier that determines what classes to deploy to each host type. And the Puppet files are sitting in their own Git repo, as depicted here:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
