Stuck In Grub Menu After Install

mx flag

I just tried like 20x to download Ubuntu from a usb with Rufus, and everything thats supposed to happen would happen, except for when I reboot my laptop to finalize the installation, nothing happens. It just boots me into the grub menu and I don't know what to do.

This is what I see: GNU GRUB version 2. 02 Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first work, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

Are you getting grub menu or just grub command line `grub>` ? Rufus makes installer either UEFI only or BIOS only. You have to be sure to make it the correct version for your system. If you have Windows it has been UEFI since 2012 although many vendors call UEFI as BIOS still. Lets see details, use ppa version with your live installer (2nd option) or any working install, not Boot-Repair ISO: Please copy & paste the pastebin link to the Boot-info summary report ( do not post report), do not run the auto fix till reviewed. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

_"Rufus makes installer either UEFI only or BIOS only."_ Rufus dev here. That is __incorrect__. With default settings, Rufus makes the Ubuntu installer for BIOS __AND__ UEFI.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
