Force applications to use a specific GPU

cn flag

On Ubuntu 18.04, I have an internal Intel GPU and a PCI Nvidia Geforce 1080 GPU. Following is what I try to achieve:

  1. Use the internal Intel GPU for all graphics applications, that is X, Java applications creating user interfaces, etc.
  2. Use the Nvidia GPU for machine learning inference (Python + Tensorflow, if relevant)
  3. Intel GPU to appear as DISPLAY 0:0

I tried to play around with xorg.conf file but no luck. Current behavior is: The display works when I connect displayport cable on the intel GPU but when I check the GPU memory, I see that Xorg, gnome-shell and java-based UI application are taking space in Nvidia GPU memory. I wan't those applications not to consume Nvidia GPU memory.

Nvidia Driver Version: 450.119.03 Following is the output of lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 3e92 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 1eb1 (rev a1)

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
