GRUB install failed

de flag

I'm trying to boot into my Ubuntu drive after I reinstalled windows which took over the boot sector.

When running sudo fdisk -l I am able to find my drive and the two partitions. The 512M EFI System and 111.3G Linux Filesystem

A tutorial said to make a dir: /mnt/ubuntu

I mounted /dev/sdb1 /mnt/ubuntu so I could run the grub installer with

sudo grub-install -boot-directory=/mnt/ubuntu/boot /dev/sdb

It was trying to do a BIOS install. Do you not want an UEFI install of grub? Most find it easier to use Boot-Repair or you can do a full chroot into system. Boot Ubuntu live installer in UEFI boot mode and add Boot-Repair using ppa as per instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair & https://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair/home/Home/ Use advanced mode & choose your install & drive. UEFI chroot, must include ESP - efi system partition http://askubuntu.com/questions/53578/can-i-install-in-uefi-mode-with-the-alternate-installer/57380#57380

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
