Must remove then connect battery to charge

us flag

I recently purchased BT04 BT04XL Battery Replacement for an HP EliteBook Folio 9470M running 20.04 LTS. The battery is recognized and will discharge power when unplugged, but later, in order to recharge (when the laptop is plugged back in) the battery must first be removed (disconnected) from the laptop and then reinstalled. Once reconnected, the battery will charge normally.

Any ideas?

Before obtaining a new battery, did you make any changes to the charging threshold values in Ubuntu to extend the previous battery?

I doubt this is something related to Ubuntu. If the battery needs to be removed I would believe it is a hardware problem. Maybe the connection point is not clean or skewed?

@matigo, thanks for taking the time to look at this. No, I did not change any power settings.

@Rinzwind. Thanks so you too. I will take a look and try cleaning the connection points.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
