Typing master password of pass wrong

au flag

I have successfully setup pass with a gpg key. When I ask for a stored password I see a counter for three attempts. My first question is what happens after three attempts? Does it only add a timeout, or do I lose access to my stored passwords?

My second quesion is: can I increase the threshold to another/higher number?

I tested it on a fresh pass repository and typing the wrong password three times only stops the login. One can immediately try again to login. Access to passwords etc. is not lost.

Hence increasing the number of attempts is not really necessary.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
