How do I set the dash-to-dock width?

us flag

In Ubuntu 21.04, I can set the dash-max-icon-size to something smaller than the default 48. This shrinks the icons, and the vertical space occupied by each icon. However, it does not shrink the width of the dock, leaving a lot of blank space on the left and right of each icon in the dock. Is there a way to shrink the dock width to match the icons in the dash?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
